Meta Trak can be installed on all vehicle types, including hybrid and electric vehicles. Speak with your chosen installer if you have any questions about your specific vehicle.
If a tracking solution is required by your insurance company, they will mandate whether you need a Category S5 (the highest level of protection) or a Category S7 tracking solution. If you are unsure, check with your insurance company.
If you have an insurance approved Meta Trak system installed you will receive a certificate of installation as part of your Welcome Email.
The Meta Trak tracking system will operate in the UK and EU (Exc. Switzerland).
Liaise with Meta Trak's Secure Operating Centre as usual, they will in turn liaise with local police abroad.
If you complete our solution finder you will be given a list of our approved dealers in your area
Once you find an approved installer (which can be done by completing our solution finder), they will schedule a date to install a Meta Trak solution. This may take place at a garage, or at your own home or place of work. They will commission the product for you so that it’s up and running straight away. You will receive a welcome email telling you how to download the Meta Trak app and start tracking your vehicle. Don’t forgot to inform your insurance company if you opted for one of our insurance approved solutions.
You can keep the ID tags on your keyring. You should always have the ID tag with you when you start the vehicle. If you don’t have the ID tag, this will be recognised as unauthorised movement and an alert will be sent to you and to the Secure Operating Centre.
If you purchase a new vehicle, contact your approved installer who will quote you to de-install the unit from your old vehicle and re-install the unit in your new vehicle. You will be able to carry and remaining time of your subscription period over to the new vehicle.
If you decide to leave the Meta Trak unit in your vehicle when you sell it, the new owner can contact us to take out a new subscription.
All driving data is your data and we do not pass it on to any other parties unless legally required to do so. Meta Trak meets the highest level of data security.
Some telematics equipment relies on 2G mobile networks, which remain the most suitable technology for certain telematics applications. 3G is not used and is not relevant. In the UK, 2G networks are planned to remain operational until 2033. However, in some EU countries, 2G services may be phased out earlier and on an operator-by-operator basis, meaning availability can vary depending on the network or roaming partner used. Switzerland has already shut down 2G networks.
This mainly affects equipment installed before July 2025. If your system was installed around this time and you plan to travel to EU countries, you should verify whether it is 2G dependent. If a 2G shutdown prevents your equipment from operating, you may upgrade your equipment or terminate your agreement.
